Surviving Hitler in Poland

In September 1939, when the Nazis invaded Poland, Jerzy (later Americanized to George) Rynecki was a Jew living in Poland. With a combination of courage, wits, luck, and bribery he survived the Holocaust. This is his story.

This collection of vignettes was self published in 2006 by his family. Elizabeth Rynecki relied upon her Grandpa George’s memoir to write the wartime portions of her book, Chasing Portraits.
